Philadelphia Art Walk: Liberty Arts of the North Scavenger Hunt

Turn Philadelphia’s museum row and mural-lined streets into an interactive race with the Let’s Roam Philly Art Walk. This two-hour scavenger hunt uses an app to guide teams past the Museum of Art, Sculpture Garden and Eastern State Penitentiary for a lively, social way to learn the city’s art and history.

The Experience

Before You Go

Download and set up the app first

Install Let’s Roam on a mobile device and redeem your voucher before you arrive to avoid delays at the start point.

Wear supportive walking shoes

Expect two hours on pavement with short stair sections; breathable, cushioned shoes keep you moving fast and comfortable.

Manage battery and data

Bring a portable charger and turn on low-power mode—photo tasks and maps drain phone battery quickly.

Use public transit to extend or shorten the route

SEPTA and bike-share stations near the route let you hop off early or join mid-way if you’re short on time.

Local Knowledge

Hidden Gems

  • Graffiti Pier — a reclaimed industrial pier with bold waterfront murals
  • Shofuso Japanese House and Garden in Fairmount Park — a quiet, photogenic contrast to the Parkway

  • Peregrine falcon

Conservation Note

Respect artworks and private property, carry out trash, and stick to paved paths in park areas to limit erosion and disturbance.

Philadelphia’s public-art movement grew significantly with the Mural Arts Program in the 1980s, converting neglected walls into community narratives.

Much of the route uses paved sidewalks and park paths and is stroller- and wheelchair-accessible, though there are a few short stair sections you can bypass via street routes.

How many people can play on one device?

You can add multiple players to a single device in the game lobby, but splitting into teams across devices increases competitiveness and fun.

What happens if the weather is bad?

Tours are self-guided and operate rain or shine; check forecasts and dress appropriately. No refunds are available for cancellations.
